It seems that Deutsche Bahn has finally improved their on-board WiFi. 👍 It’s actually usable, even for programming over SSH with Visual Studio Code. Sometimes the connection is a bit slow, but we are also going through tunnels.

Refactoring your personal software projects
Colin Walker is trying to refactor his blogging software to make it available to others. Regarding whether anyone else will end up using it, he writes:
Hereby I can finally announce that my bachelor colloquium was successful and I have now successfully completed my degree. I am now a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. 🤓🎓
Really nice weather today, you don’t even need to wear a jacket. 🌞 In less than 24 hours, I will probably already have my bachelor’s degree. 😱

Two years jlelse.blog
Two years ago today, I registered jlelse.blog and merged my different blogs into one. Since then, I definitely blog more and now use the blog instead of posting on siloed platforms as well. It has definitely paid off. And the domain is already renewed for another two years.
Today I went for a ride on my non-electric city bike. It’s fun to be pushed by an electric motor, but riding with your own power isn’t so bad either and it makes me feel good to push harder on the pedals sometimes. I’m also thinking about buying a road bike as a “reward” after my bachelor’s degree to do a bit more sport again, but one that you can ride on more than just the road. 🚴♂️🤔

“SQLite is not a toy database”
I am a fan of SQLite. SQLite is brilliant, offers a lot of features, but is often underestimated. Also my blog uses SQLite, as well as my URL shortener.
This happened to me several times today. I listen to music on my smartphone while sitting at the PC. I want to skip a track. But what do I do? I press the “Next” key on my PC keyboard instead of taking my phone and pressing “Next” there. 🤦♂️
ClearURLs add-on
A small recommendation on the side: Today I came across a quite useful add-on for Firefox (Google seems to have kicked it out of the Chrome Store recently), ClearURLs.
Firefox 87 with some nice changes
Firefox 87 was released with a new feature for everyone developing websites with light and dark modes.
