A comment by Colin Walker:

I was in the same position, I'd tried journalling on paper but it never really worked out — I often forgot and the friction was high. Journalling apps have never really worked for me either as they were too impersonal and didn't give me what I wanted. Having a simple means of posting that I have created has really helped, being able to write to the journal in exactly the same way as I write a blog post has been transformational. Knowing that it is on a system I have created helps me connect to it more. I don't have stats on my blog but I do have a journal streak counter that, when logged in, is a constant reminder to journal. I'm up to a 139 day streak.
