I heard of telnet already, but I never used it in some way. It’s one of the oldest internet standards. Now I discovered a cool project: mapscii.

When you are on Linux or macOS, open your terminal and type:

telnet mapscii.me

Maps in your terminal via telnet! 😄

To navigate, use the following shortcuts:

  • Arrows up, down, left, right to scroll around
  • a or z to zoom in and out
  • q to quit

On Windows you can use PuttY. And if you don’t want to use telnet, you can also download the project and run it locally. It’s NodeJS-based.
