⚠️ This entry is already over one year old. It may no longer be up to date. Opinions may have changed.

Until today, I used the Tinify API to compress images on my blog. About 250 images per month are free, after that it’s pretty cheap. (I never exceeded the free limit).

But today I came across the ShortPixel API. ShortPixel is primarily known for their WordPress plugin, but they also offer an API that can be used independently of WordPress.

Tinify may have a few more features, but what I need, scaling and compression, they both offer. And ShortPixel’s images are even smaller in size, with no difference that I can perceive.

Other advantages: The API is a bit easier to use and further compressions after the free limit of 100 images per month are even cheaper.

That’s why GoBlog now handles the ShortPixel API and I can post even more images. ☺️
