I am convinced of SQLite. For many use cases where other databases like MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL are often used, SQLite would suffice, given the right design and architecture.

A few days ago, I started writing a rant about the new email service HEY (but I discarded the draft because I could not put my criticism into words properly.) While I appreciate that there is a new privacy-focused email service, I do not understand the hype. I don’t understand how it should revolutionize email. There are already a few email services that you pay for. And also the problem of vendor lock-in (by using provider domains instead of custom domains) is not solved by not (yet) supporting custom domains. And also the UI doesn’t look very appealing to me.

Last month I wrote about my problem with newsletters. Today I discovered the service Kill the Newsletter!. It let’s you subscribe to newsletters by RSS. Therefor it creates a private email address and converts all emails received by this address into an Atom feed to which you can subscribe with any Atom-feed compatible news reader. That’s especially useful for newsletters that don’t provide an archive or RSS feed.
