⚠️ This entry is already over one year old. It may no longer be up to date. Opinions may have changed.

April is also over now, time to take a short look back.

The weather in April was quite mixed. On the one hand, it snowed a bit right at the beginning of the month, but by the middle or end of the month it was already much warmer, up to more than 20° C. Spring, but I think spring is actually my favorite season.

At the beginning of the month I shared a couple of open source tools that I find exciting: rathole, ntfy and PicoShare. rathole and ntfy have proven their services by now, only for PicoShare I had only one real use, which probably could have been solved differently.

Corona seems to be over, at least in most people’s minds. On the other hand, Corona is not over yet, my girlfriend got it over Easter and unfortunately quite badly. I, although I had contact with her shortly before her positive test result, surprisingly did not catch anything or my immune system kept it in check so far that all my test results remained negative. I also seem not to have been infected at a birthday party.

At the end of March I ordered a weighted blanket, which finally arrived at the beginning of April. I think it really works. Falling asleep almost always works great and I wake up less often in between. And there are noticeably more days on which I actually feel well rested in the morning. My current sleep aids are thus sleep mask, sleep earplugs and a weighted blanket. But anything that helps me sleep better should be worth it to me. Because with poor sleep, not only am I sluggish and unmotivated all day, I also can’t concentrate well or have headaches.

In April, I finally got around to getting my electric bike fixed. That cost quite a bit of money, but it was worth it, I went on a few bike rides right away. Finally, I can again choose between my two bikes, a non-electric city bike and an electrically assisted trekking bike, according to my mood. I participated in the Critical Mass (🇩🇪) for the first time this month, with my city bike.

Apart from that, I also programmed this month, not very much, but I spontaneously had the idea to implement “Reactions” in GoBlog, my blogging software. The feature is more a fun than it is actually useful, but my blog should also offer me something like a playground to try out. And “Reactions” might make my blog a bit more individual.

In the meantime, I’ve been living in my own new apartment for over a month now and have settled in quite well. I also notice that the environment is now much more familiar to me. Shopping in a different supermarket has also become quite normal for me now.
