My August ‘22 in Review
And now August is over, time for a new monthly review.
This month I have programmed a lot on GoBlog again besides work. So my blogging software now supports plugins for the first time. With plugins, I have the goal that it is easier to extend GoBlog with new functions, without these functions then have to be directly in the GoBlog code. In addition, perhaps one or the other thing can be better personalized. For example, a first plugin allows to add syndication links to the HTML code of posts.
Also, in the middle of the month was my last working day at my old employer. After a total of exactly 5 years, my time at this company is now coming to an end and a new chapter in my (professional) life is beginning. On the one hand, I’m sad to leave my colleagues, with whom I always got along very well and through whom I was able to learn a lot, but on the other hand, I’m also looking forward to the new tasks and challenges at an employer that perhaps fits my own ideas a bit better. (My old employer was by no means bad - but better is almost always possible!) Tomorrow is my first working day and I’m a bit excited… But one thing I know for sure, just breaking out of my comfort zone and taking this step was an important one in my personal development.
Since I still had some vacation time left, I took the last two weeks of August off and went to Croatia by train with my girlfriend. A detailed report will follow in the next few days. But it was a great time, now I am relaxed and full of energy again. There are also finally more pleasant temperatures again here in Germany.
There is one thing I will miss in September, just where it would suit me very well - to get used to my new job I will definitely work in the office for a few days, and that is the 9-Euro-Ticket. I’m rather pessimistic about our current government, but maybe, maybe there will be a successor to this nationwide ticket from next year, so that you no longer have to worry about transport associations and fare levels and zones. A 69-Euro-Ticket would also save me quite a bit of money, should I feel the urge to work in the office more often in the future. Let’s hope for the best…
