⚠️ This entry is already over one year old. It may no longer be up to date. Opinions may have changed.

And now the next month is already over, February. So here’s my monthly review and what happened in February.

Right at the beginning of the month, I parted ways with another social network, LinkedIn. LinkedIn is not a social network in the classic sense, but much more focused on professional use, especially job search and placement. But I don’t need that at the moment, because I already have a follow-up contract for the time after my bachelor thesis. And if I should ever start looking for a job again, there are still ways to do that without LinkedIn. In short, I didn’t see any value for me in this service that justified getting annoying emails all the time.

Earlier this month, it was colder than it had been in a long time. And there was snow, lots of snow. Unusual, when there had been less and less snow for years. Climate change. Nonetheless, I took advantage of the snow and got outside a lot. Who knows when there will be snow next time.

I am curious and always like to try out different things. This month, for example, the music streaming service Deezer, which I’m testing as an alternative to Spotify. At one point, after I stopped borrowing CDs from the public library to import into iTunes and copy onto my 4th generation iPod nano, I bought MP3s from Apple and Google for a while, then finally switched to Spotify. As a student, it’s half the price and offers a lot in return. Instead of only listening to charts or temporarily rap, I could now listen to other genres more easily and always decide which music I liked now, depending on my mood. Spotify was a loyal companion for many years, but there are other services besides Spotify. Deezer came across as appealing to me because the app works well both on my Android and in the web browser on the PC, and there is an extra app just for audiobooks and games. Right now I’m listening to the Snowden book. Spotify is cancelled for now.

After it was so cold, up to -20 degrees Celsius, it was suddenly quite warm, up to +20 degrees. I have also used this weather and have been outside more often. Such a good, but pleasant weather, that somehow also puts me in a good mood.

Apart from that, I worked a lot on my bachelor thesis this month. I have an almost final version now. Maybe one or two more corrections, but then I can hand it in and probably have my colloquium not long after that. I am curious when I will finally be completely finished. Already for the next monthly review or only in April? But no matter when, the goal is within reach! And then I need a week of vacation…

A year ago, in my monthly review, I not only wrote about my thoughts on a Bachelor topic, but also wished my readers a Corona-free March. Well, we all know what happened then. But as it seems, politics didn’t really learn from the year pandemic and so now there are discussions about loosening again just before the third wave. Why this is a bad idea is something I shared a link about this morning (🇩🇪). I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I think this topic will haunt us for a long time.

Get through March well and stay healthy!
