My November ‘20 in Review
Here, a somewhat delayed review of the past month of November. This month was actually rather less exciting.
At the beginning there was the election in the USA, which was also very much observed in the German media, and I also looked at the results more often than I should have done. After all, the results only affect you very indirectly. At least there is a bit of relief that Trump was voted out of office and hopefully there will be a bit more common sense in the White House in the future. Nevertheless, I find it completely incomprehensible why the American electoral system is seen as so democratic. Even if this election turned out well, in 4 years the next Trump could be elected.
In November I finally switched from my complex Hugo-based blog system to my own blog system programmed from scratch. In preparation for this and also afterwards I spent a lot of time with feature implementation and bug fixing. There was only one bug that caused a few hours of downtime at one point, but otherwise everything has been running pretty smoothly since then. Also a new feature has been implemented shortly after the migration: Full text search!
Apart from that, for one week I moved my home office close to my family and worked from there, after all, we didn’t see much of each other this year.
But on the last day of the month I had a run of bad luck. My car won’t start, probably the battery has reached the end of its life, and in the basement it’s dripping. Let’s hope that these problems will be solved quickly, after all I’d rather focus on the bachelor thesis I’m just starting to write.
