Micro.blog’s new newsletter feature

I think the new micro.blog feature for newsletters is the right approach. Blog first, newsletter second. But newsletters are not difficult to set up, they only need to be activated by a checkbox.

Sometimes I think about adding something like that to GoBlog as well, but I always come to the conclusion that it’s a lot of work to send emails that arrive reliably. Many email sending services prohibit sending newsletters and only allow transactional emails. In addition, there is the data protection topic and laws like GDPR to consider, if I collect email addresses. So I prefer to leave it up to my potential newsletter readers to use one of the many RSS to email services.
