Lately I’ve been switching the playback speed for videos mostly to 1.25 or 1.5x. This way I manage to watch videos that I watch to learn something new in less time (and still understand everything). Especially with long videos this makes a difference. Is it only me who feels this way? I was really happy to find out that this feature is not only available on YouTube, but also in native video players in Firefox.

This might sound like a post by a Microsoft fanboy, but honestly, WSL 2 on Windows 10 2004 is really great. It allows me to use Windows on my Surface Go, but at the same time use Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) on it, in a small optimized VM. For example I can run Hugo inside WSL 2 at Linux speed (fast) instead of Windows speed (slow). I just need to take care to save the Git repository with my site files inside the filesystem of the VM and not on Windows (passthrough is really slow). And it’s easy to start Visual Studio Code from inside WSL 2 by just tiping “code .” and the current directory will be opened in Code. I’m really waiting for official GUI support so that I can even use graphical applications under Linux. The best of both worlds.

Two years ago, I was in a stage where podcasts really excited me. I have heard many podcasts myself and some of my online acquaintances have also started to start their own podcasts. So I decided to do that as well and gain some experience.

There are some online services that use email login. This means that instead of a combination of user name and password, only the email address is entered and a login link is sent to it. Basically, this is a good option to increase security a bit. The service only needs to store a list of email addresses instead of the corresponding password (hopefully encrypted and hashed) for each user.
