My July ‘21 in Review
Now the end of July has already arrived. Another month over, another monthly review to read.

I really look forward to the final release of Gitea 1.15.0, which includes this pull-request. It adds the option to mirror to remote repositories, without the need to manually setup Git hooks, like I’ve done before.
I wrote about Barinsta (formerly InstaGrabber) before. The creator has now received a cease and desist letter from Facebook. That’s probably the death for this project. Too bad, because maybe a few people were quite happy to use Instagram semi-privately through it. But the letter is just another hint to avoid Facebook services altogether.
I currently use RSS-Bridge to follow Telegram channels and read new messages in Miniflux. RSS-Bridge is a really cool project that tries to provide RSS (or ATOM, JSON, HTML…) feeds for sites that don’t do that directly.
While watching YouTube videos, I’ve been noticing more paid mentions of NordVPN or other similar services lately.
Over three years after I mused about what it is like to still use a Holo Design app in 2018, the final version of K-9 Mail has now been released with a revamped user interface.
I’m a bit obsessed when it comes to the performance of my blog (and GoBlog). But I think I have already achieved a very good result.
My blog has the function to open a random article (just go to jlelse.blog/random). But I also like to use it myself and it always amazes me what I find there. For example, what I thought and wrote four or five years ago. That was a time of many changes in my life, which probably shaped me a lot. I was searching a bit for meaning in life and my role in the world. Some things I see differently today, but some things I still see that way.
One of the tech news sites I read has switched from Disqus to native WordPress comments. Where uBlock Origin used to block more than 15 items (unfortunately I don’t remember the exact number), now only 2 items are blocked. 👍 (also for not switching to “Comment on Twitter” instead)
Some audio and visual impressions from today’s trip. 🏞️
