One of the tech news sites I read has switched from Disqus to native WordPress comments. Where uBlock Origin used to block more than 15 items (unfortunately I don’t remember the exact number), now only 2 items are blocked. 👍 (also for not switching to “Comment on Twitter” instead)

Modularizing GoBlog?

Published on in 💭 Thoughts

I just separated the function I told you about the other day (the one for marking text with “==") as a Go module. This way the main code remains more organized and if I don’t need the feature any more, the module is still usable. Also for other people who might need the same functionality. I think I should modularize GoBlog even more. 🤔

I just updated my Ubuntu installation from 20.10 to 21.04 and I have to say (again): I love Ubuntu updates, they are so simple and fast! I can probably do 5 major Ubuntu updates in the time I do one major Windows update.

WSL 2 support for Linux GUI apps is coming soon

Published on in 🔗 Links

Last year’s announcement that WSL 2 would soon support Linux GUI apps seems to be getting more real, as the feature is now present in an Insider build. Since moving my blog to my new CMS, I don’t count visits to this website anymore. Previously I used my own view counter named KISSS or kis3. It served me quite well. But to be honest, I don’t even miss the numbers, now that I can’t see them anymore.

Example domains

Published on in 💭 Thoughts

Did you know that there are official example domains that can be used in documentation? example.com, example.net and example.org are all example domains of the IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, which are explicitly intended for use in documentation.1 In documentations or even in sample code I often stumbled over examples where no official sample domain was used, but one that can actually be registered. It is not recommended to use such a domain, because you can’t make sure that it will be registered once and maybe unintentionally data will end up with strangers.
